Yes we do credit checks, but it is only part of the application.  We treat each application individually and understand that we all can hit speed bumps along the way in life.  We have even approved people who have been bankrupt in the past. So we encourage you to talk to us if you have concerns about your credit history.

We are require by law though to obtain your latest 90-day bank statement, photo ID, and Centrelink Income statement if you are on a centrelink payment.

If you are working, we will also require your 3 latest payslips.

Yes. At 1st Choice, we care about you and we endeavour to supply you with the right product for your needs and financial circumstances. You can apply with 1st Choice Rentals even if you’re receiving benefits.

  • Upon delivery you have paid for your first 2 weeks rental, your rental instalment is always paid in advance. You will be required to pay 2 weeks after delivery to ensure your account is always up to date.

    We offer a “Fixed Term Lease with the Option to buy at any time”. The contract is for a fixed term, although, you have the option to offer to purchase the goods at any time. Just give us a call and we will talk you through the process. At the end of the fixed term period, your options are flexible, you can upgrade, make an offer to buy the goods or return the goods you are renting. If returning, goods must be returned in good order and condition.

    If you decide to offer to buy, just phone us. The payout figures are system generated at the time looking at the retail price of the goods, the age of the goods, how long you have been renting, and the depreciation of the stock. If you continue to rent on to the end of the lease agreement, the figure will be a low nominal amount compared to the value at the start of the contract.

    If your circumstances change and you need to return the goods, or would like to upgrade your goods, we may charge you the remainder of the fixed term. Although, 1st Choice is known to be flexible for its customers, so we encourage you to talk to us. Generally, if the goods are returned in good order and condition, 1st Choice may waive the unused balance of the lease agreement.

    Our “Fixed Term Lease with the Option to buy at any time” gives you the ability to offer to buy the goods at any time.

    The fixed term is generally 2 or 3 years for most items.

    If you decide to offer to buy, just phone us.     If you haven’t paid out the goods prior to the fixed term, we will send you a letter 3 months prior to your lease expiry to remind you that your lease is due to expire soon. If you would like to make an offer, just call our friendly team. Once a payout is negotiated and settled, we will transfer the ownership of the goods to you.

    LLC (Limited Liability Cover) limits your liability to us in the event of fire, theft or water damage to your rental goods. Conditions apply, for more information please refer to page 19 of our terms and conditions.

    We extend the manufacturers warranty on all our goods. Thus whilst you are renting your goods and your account is up to date, we will pick up, repair and return your rental items free of charge so long as the fault is deemed to be a manufacturers fault. Click here to lodge a Repair Request.
